About Me
How I got started
Hi! I’m Tamsyn — a designer and illustrator who moved from Ontario, Canada, to the UK in 2024 with my two cats: Olive and Oscar.
I’ve been creating things for as long as I can remember, but I didn’t always know exactly where I wanted that creativity to take me. I began with an Art Fundamentals course to explore my options, which led me to study Design at the York University/Sheridan College Joint Program, where I earned my Honours Bachelor’s Degree.
After graduating in 2020, I spent a year studying Concept Art for Entertainment, with a primary focus on concept art for video games. I’ve always loved visual storytelling and building imaginative, atmospheric worlds, and I love bringing that same creativity and thoughtful detail to my design work today.
My career so far
Since graduating, I’ve worked across branding, illustration, digital design, marketing, and motion graphics, with experience in both in-house teams and freelance projects. I’ve been lucky to work on projects that make a real impact — from helping small businesses grow and flourish, bringing clients’ ideas to life, to supporting IDENTOS in their work with privacy-first identity solutions in healthcare.
What ties it all together for me is using design to help people feel connected — whether that’s to a brand, a story, or an idea. I’m especially happiest when I can combine thoughtful design with creativity and personality, helping meaningful work reach the people it’s for.
Life outside of design
When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me:
Exploring new places on walks or hikes — preferably with a coffee and pastry in hand (before or after… or both)
Trying new recipes — because I saw it on Instagram, and now I have to make it
Playing video games — anything with an immersive story
Painting gifts for my friends — because personalised gifts are always more meaningful
